Chiropractic Licensing

Chiropractors in North Dakota are also referred to as Doctors of Chiropractic or Chiropractic Physicians. Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that the nervous system controls and regulates the entire body. Interference with nerve transmission to or from the brain, usually along the spinal column, can have local and peripheral effects on health and well-being.

An applicant for examination to practice chiropractic in North Dakota shall have a degree or a certificate proving enrollment in the last trimester of college received from an approved and accredited college of chiropractic. An approved and accredited college of chiropractic within the meaning of this chapter is a college of chiropractic that is approved by the board and accredited by the council on chiropractic education or its successor.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum two years pre-professional education
No requirement for 4-year degree
Accreditation for Chiropractic Programs/Institutions from the Council on Chiropractic Education

PHYSIOTHERAPY:

Optional endorsement or notation included with chiropractic license
Additional Education: No specific requirements
Additional Examination: No additional exams required

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

Requirements: 20 hours per year
Distance Credits Allowed: 20 hours
Program Criteria: Cosponsored by CCE accredited college
Board accepts the uniform continuing education form: Yes
Board requires sexual boundaries training: License renewal 4 hours per 3 years
